San Salvador, capital city of El Salvador, is the 5th most populated city in Central America with its just over a ½ million people. Include it’s surrounding metropolitan area, and that number climbs to 2nd. There’s a few things to do here including visiting the Centro de Ferias y Convenciones and Zona Rosa. Walk around the city soaking up the early Spanish colonial architecture or places like the National Palace or the Metropolitan Cathedral. When you’ve gotten a good feel for the area with its history and culture, head over to the casino for some R and R.

The casino offers 100 classic and video slot machines as well as video poker terminals plus 4 table games. Several attractions are near the casino, like the David Guzman Anthropology Museum and the Torre Cuscatlan, so while you’re in the area, pop in and try your luck in some slots and cards. A sweet little slots jackpot would certainly make your trip all the more memorable for it.

The 4-star Siesta Hotel Casino offers its guests rooms in several types equipped with such modern amenities as cable television, air conditioning, and free wireless internet access. Non-smoking rooms are available upon request. Being the capital city, you can always find alternate accommodations. Look for those most suited to your budget and comfort levels. Regardless of where you opt to stay, spend some time chatting up hotel staff for insight into all the best local attractions and suggestions on places to eat and bars to frequent.

Look for hot and cold breakfast buffets in the restaurant as well as various international dishes. You can also find a coffee shop/café and guests can enjoy 24 hr. room service. You may wish to walk around the city finding your own new favourite eateries serving up authentic El Salvadorian cuisine. Have staff point you in the right direction to popular places nearby.

There are several activities you can participate in, or around, the hotel, such as cycling, golfing, horseback-riding, tennis, and a few water sports like sailing, snorkelling and water-skiing. When you head into town visit some of the various local attractions and check out some of the Spanish colonial architecture. Areas of interest include the National Palace, built back in 1866 (and again in 1905 due to fire) and the National Museum of Anthropology. For more architecture, as well as religious sites, try the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Holy Savior (or Catedrall Metropolitana de San Salvador). For a little bit of culture, there’s the National Theatre of El Salvador (or Teatro Nacional de El Salvador), which first began construction in 1911 and completing in 1917. The theatre was declared a national monument in 1979. For monuments, there’s the Gerardo Barrios statue over in La Plaza Gerardo Barrios (or the Civic Plaza), the Monumento de los Heroes over in Plaza Libertad, and the commemorative statue in Plaza Morazan. When you’re looking for some night life like bars and restaurants, try Zona Rosa.

The casino does not currently have a player rewards system in place. Be sure to ask staff about any potential contests or promotions which they might be running.
