Casino de Royat

Part of the urban-area of Clermont-Ferrand, Royat is a commune in the department of Puy-de-Dome and the region of Auvergne. Locals are known as Royatais or Royadaires. The city is known for its thermal waters and green areas (gardens, parks and forests). Bargoin Park boasts France’s largest maple, with a 7.5 metre circumference, and as old as 250 years. Visit the Botanical Gardens, with its various herbs, flowers and plants. Royat is home to Auvergne’s largest spa centre, with its indoor and outdoor whirlpools and services like massages and facials, and amenities like saunas and steam rooms.

Choose to eat in the casino restaurant le Cas Brasserie, or one of the venues nearby such as Belle Meuniere, Paradise, Le Still (also a bar), La Brasserie Auvergnate or Table Isadore. Alternately, ask staff from either the casino or the hotel for recommendations to great venues in the area, or find your own during your travels. Don’t forget the continental breakfast back at the hotel.

Attractions/NightLife

Enjoy drinks in the casino, the hotel bar, or one of the pubs and clubs in town, like Kerry’s Pub, Magma Café, or Les Berthom. During days, visit various local attractions such as the Museum Royat, the Station Royat (a historical monument), or the Puy Chateix mountains, said to be home to a castle, destroyed back in 761. Check out the local spa, built by architect Leon Agis Ledru between 1852 and 1856, now a historic monument. For religious sites, there’s the Church of Saint-Leger, marked a historic monument in 1862. For indigenous and exotic flora, head to the botanical gardens or Bargoin Park, home to France’s largest maple.
