Located in Port-au-Prince, Haiti’s largest and capital city, with it’s just under one million people, you can find the Royal Haitian Hotel & Casino. The city has a rich history dating back to its colonial incorporation in 1749. Travellers here can find several things to do from, from visiting religious structures like Haiti’s oldest cathedral (Our Lady of the Assumption) to shopping among the busy stalls in the Iron Market. Sports enthusiasts can even check out a game of soccer over at the Sylvio Cator Stadium. There's also museums when looking to explore local history and culture.

gaming

The casino has rather light offerings with only 30 classic and video slots across their 500 sq ft of gaming floor. There’s an additional 6 table games which consist of 3 blackjack, 1 Caribbean stud and 2 roulette. The casino runs daily beginning at 9 pm. Head in after long days touring the capital city and a good run in cards might finance another trip to the Iron Market.

Hotel/Accommodations

The hotel offers 75 rooms and has been around since 1973, having undergone a renovation back in 1980. Guests can enjoy their outdoor pool and can find on site a currency exchange, a bar and a restaurant. Room service is also available. Being in the capital, there are several other hotels in the area. Find the one best suited to your budget and comfort level. Regardless of where you stay, be sure to ask staff for tips on the best attractions, bars and restaurants in the area.

Dining

Look for themed buffet dinners in the hotel or enjoy the use of their room service. For French-inspired cuisine, there’s Tiffany’s, also with a good wine list. Foe healthy potions of Creole cuisine, head to Arc-en-Ciel, with menu items including pork, jerked chicken and plantains. Eclectic dishes with a fusion of Italian, Spanish and French cuisine can be found in the Quartier Latin. Quick eats can be found in Mun Cheez where you can enjoy burgers and beer. Be sure to ask hotel and casino staff for suggestions on the best nearby eateries.

Attractions/NightLife

When the sun goes down it’s time to hit the clubs. Djumbala provides live music in its open-air club, while over at XTreme you can listen to the big-band orchestra. Sports fans can catch a soccer match over in the Sylvio Cator Stadium, also home to Racing Club Hatien and Violette Athletic. During days, trek through the capital city visiting the local attractions, like the National Palace. Though the building was terribly hit during the earthquake, it is still a popular site for both tourists and locals. Near here you can find the Our Lady of the Assumption, Haiti’s largest cathedral. To walk through Haiti’s history, check out the Musee du Pantheon National, and for culture there’s the Musee d’Art Haitien. When it’s time to go pick up all your souvenirs head to the Marche de Fer (the Iron Market). This busy market has a pretty much a bit of everything from trinkets and crafts to live animals. Expect to be jostled.
