Acapulco, officially Acapulco de Juarez, is a city in the Mexican state of Guerrero. It’s a major sea port for the area, but you probably know it mostly as a tourist mecca. People come here in droves for holiday, especially those seeking fun and sun and everything beach-related. It’s also a prime destination for cruise ships. The city of Acapulco added the ‘de Juarez’ in 1885 in honour of former president Benito Juarez.

Gaming

The Casino Yak 8 is located in the Galerias Diana and can host around 350 people at any given time. The offer a selection of classic and video slots and ‘Mexican’ bingo. There is also a sportsbook on site if you’re interested in wagering on international sporting events. Regardless of what you opt to play, a little R and R indoors after long days out at the beach could be just what the doctor ordered. Besides, since you’ll likely want to take advantage of the Acapulcan night life, a little padding to your wallet won’t hurt.

Hotel/Accommodations

There are no hotels on site but as close as 0.2 km from the casino you can find the Emporio Hotel. The hotel offers 422 rooms coming in standard, junior suite and presidential and are equipped with air conditioning and wireless internet access. Each room has balconies overlooking the sea. Facilities on site include an over-sized swimming pool, restaurant and guests staying here can take advantage of room service.

Dining

In the hotel you can find the Seasoning Restaurant, which dishes up international and Mexican cuisine, both a la carte and in their buffets. Enjoy tapas and cocktails in the Arka Martini & Tapas Bar. For grilled eats by the pool-side, there’s The Island Bar & Grill. Other restaurants in the area include Baikul with its Mediterranean-Asian-French fusion (also with live jazz music), El Fogon, with menu items like grilled cactus and steaks, Die Bratwurst with its German dishes, and for more Mexican fare, El Cabrito

Attractions/NightLife

It’s Acapulco – night life here is practically a way of life. There’s untold bars and clubs around. El Alebrije boasts being able to house 5000-plus patrons. The Palladium, Mandara and Baby O’s are other clubs in the area. For even more options, try along La Costera. Beaches are a must. Try Isla de la Roqueta, Puerto Marquez, or Pie de la Cuesta’s Playa Luces. Participate in any number of water activities like sunning, swimming, snorkelling, fishing, scuba diving and sailing. Consider taking a glass-bottom boat tour or going cliff-diving. Local attractions include the museums Casa de la Mascara or the Dolores Olmedo House. In the zocalo (main square) there’s the Neustra Senora de la Soledad cathedral, and east of the square, the San Diego Fort, built back in 1616. Bring the family to the Centro Internacional de Convivencia Infantial, an aquatic park with wave pools, water slides and dolphin shows. If you’re a fan of golf, try a round at the Pierre Marques or the Acapulco Princess.
