Back in 1988, the village of Boca del Rio received city status and hasn’t looked back since, welcoming visitors into its arms. The city is located in the state of Veracruz in the section known as Llanuras de Sotavento. There’s plenty to do in this city, with its shopping, attractions, night life and beautiful outdoor surroundings. If you’re interested in hitting the beaches, try Santa Ana Beach or Mocambo Beach. Be adventurous and go horseback riding. Consider taking a leisurely boat ride along the Jamapa River, taking in the scenery as well as flora and fauna. Try over on Sacrificios Island where you can view the marine life when scuba diving.

The hotel offers 60 junior suites, with 48 rooms having a garden and pool view and 12 with an ocean view. There are also 6 suites with an ocean view as well. All rooms come equipped with air conditioning, television and free wireless internet access. Facilities include an indoor pool, outdoor pool, fitness centre, Jacuzzi, sauna, spa, a bar (the Corsario), café (El Mirador) and a restaurant (La Fragata). There are also rooms for private events and business meetings.

Dining

Find international and regional dishes in both El Mirador and La Frigata. For breakfasts try over in Gran Café la Parroquia. Ask about their picadas y gorditas con huevo – fried tortillas with salsa and scrambled eggs. Enjoy seafood salads and fish dishes in Rio de la Plata or try the seafood cocktails in El Bayo. Alternately, there’s the markets for fresh foods and street carts for quick eats.

Attractions/NightLife

For dancing there’s Cocoo’s and Beers, also serving food, Classico del Puerto Disco Boutique, running into the morning, and La Bartola. For retro music and beach views, try Moon Bar. For beer and chatting up the locals, there’s Bar Titos. Back at the hotel, there's the Corsario. During days, try one of the local museums. There’s the Agustin Lara House Museum (showcasing works from poet Agustin Lara) and the Buque Canonero Guanajuato, a decommissioned ship converted into a naval museum. When you want fun, sun, and swimming, there’s Mocambo Beach and Santa Ana Beach. Try scuba diving over on Sacrificio Island. Shopping is plentiful – simply hit one of the malls. Options include the Plaza Americas, Plaza Boca del Rio, Plaza Santa Ana and Plaza Mocambo, as well as many street vendors and markets. Local festivals include BocaFest (June) and the Feast of Saint Ann (July). Combined the two are known as Fiestas del Boca del Río. Other attractions include Gutierrez Barrios Theatre, the San Pedro y San Pablo Church, and the Baluarte de Santiago.
