Jailhouse Motel & Casino

The Jailhouse Motel & Casino is an Ely tradition and serves as an excellent stopping place for passers-through giving them the opportunity to meet the friendly locals of Ely, Nevada. This casino is a bit spread out, in a way, given that the two restaurants and bars affiliated with the casino are (technically) located in buildings separate from the casino. If nothing else, you'll remember this casino from the décor. The main bar and sitting room is a bit cluttered and features a large portrait of a locomotive on the wall. However, the seating, perhaps, is what you will most remember. The seating consists of what appear to be outdoor tiki chairs and tables like you might see in an island-type venue. In addition to the prominent sign, one will also remember the appropriately barred windows as well as the neon lights with a sheriff star design running around the greater casino building. One interesting fact about this casino is that it is located on the site of Ely's first City Hall, but I imagine the guys in the cells back then weren't eating steak or playing Video Poker!

Gaming

The Jailhouse Casino features roughly 140 of the newest and hottest slot, video poker and video keno machines on the market today. In addition to these machines, this casino is proud to offer old-school coin-dropper Joker Poker. In addition to those coin-droppers, the other Video Poker and Video Keno machines come in a wide variety of games and denominations with the slot machines featuring a range of denominations, as well.

Hotel/Accommodations

The Jailhouse Motel & Casino, as the name would imply, features a motel with a wide variety of 60 guest rooms to choose from. The Motel part of the establishment features a fitness center as well as a hot tub and wireless internet is complimentary and available anywhere in the establishment. All rooms include an activity table, sitting area, refrigerator and a coffee maker. Otherwise, this hotel features an assortment of smoking and non-smoking rooms which are pretty much the same. The, "West Wing," rooms are better located (view) and more recently renovated than the, "Motor Lodge," rooms and pet friendly as well as handicap accessible rooms are available. The TV's have been known to be a bit dated, but the rooms are clean and comfortable and the customer service is outstanding.

Dining

The Jailhouse features the Outlaw BBQ & Café which is the newest addition to the property and is open from 6:00a-5:00p daily, but is open until 9:00p during the summer. This establishment also features the Cellblock Steakhouse which is the only fine dining establishment in Ely, and, quite possibly, the only fine dining restaurant anywhere where guests enjoy their meal in a jail cell! It is open daily from 5:00p-9:00p, and given the outstanding quality of the food, I seriously doubt if that meal will be your last!

Entertainment/Nightlife

This establishment has a myriad of things to do if you are a guest, including the fitness center, hot tub and choice of two restaurants. For everyone else, any of the three total lounges are ideal places to watch the game with the cozy environment and big-screen LCD HDTV's.

The location has a player's club through which one can earn points and participate in promotions, interestingly, they just call it, "The Players Card."
