Moapa Paiute Travel Plaza

The Moapa Paiute Travel Plaza, as the name would suggest, is an Indian-owned combination casino, travel center and restaurant. The Tribal Organization is the Moapa Band of Paiutes, and in addition to the gas station and convenience store, it also boasts the largest fireworks vending location in the West making this a popular go-to location for residents of Nevada, Arizona and California around the Fourth of July. The location is near the Valley of Fire State Park, which is the oldest State Park in the State of Nevada and designated as a National Natural Landmark since 1968. The park is renowned for beautiful red sandstone foundations that date back to the time that dinosaurs walked the Earth. The Indian Reservation itself, while not necessarily in the most touristy region of the park, is technically located within the park. This park is also known for having a wide variety of feature films shot here due to the natural beauty and breathtaking scenery. Needless to say, we here at LCB definitely think this is worth a stop if you are passing through that area of Nevada, and quite probably, even worth going out of the way for as it is only about thirty miles north of the Las Vegas Valley.

Gaming

Gaming at the Moapa Paiute Travel Plaza consists of 100 of the latest and greatest slot, video poker and video keno machines. This casino is a solid destination for the slots enthusiast as the regular tourism and activity lends the casino both the ability and motivation to ensure that they have the most recent slot machines on the floor. There is also bartop video poker available and full alcohol service.

Hotel/Accommodations

Unfortunately, the Moapa Paiute Travel Plaza does not operate a hotel, nor are there any hotels in Moapa. The nearest hotels are going to be about thirty miles away in Mesquite, NV, but we would obviously recommend going to Las Vegas and staying in one of the hotels there as it is only forty miles away. For people who enjoy breathtaking scenery and are already staying in Vegas, we'd certainly recommend taking some daylight hours out of one of your days and coming to admire the Valley of Fire.

Dining

The Moapa Paiute Travel Plaza is home to the Tukanan Restaurant, which features a fairly eclectic variety of choices. It is open from 5a-9p daily.

Entertainment/Nightlife

Unfortunately, there is not much in the way of nightlife at this casino as it operates primarily as a travel center and restaurant with the casino operations being almost secondary.
