Originally opened as a department store in 1957 and converted to a casino in 1978, the Circus Circus Casino in Reno is one of the few casinos in the State of Nevada, outside of Las Vegas, that can hope to mirror the Las Vegas gaming experience. In addition to a 65,000 square foot casino floor, the size of which surpasses that of many Vegas casinos, this establishment also features a convention center, multiple meeting rooms and has available wedding services. Needless to say, all of these event opportunities have catering available at an additional price. If that weren't enough, this casino is also somewhat reminiscent of the Vegas experience in that they have six different restaurants on-site, with a wide variety of flavors and styles from around the world. Much like it's sister Circus Circus in Las Vegas, Nevada, this casino strives to be a destination providing a wide variety of fun and entertainment with something to do for the whole family. This casino also features five different shopping locations in the main building as well as four others on the Midway, including The Veranda Store and The Jewelry Shoppe.

The Circus Circus Reno features possibly the best gaming options in the city. The sprawling casino floor houses 1,612 of the latest and greatest slot, video poker and video keno machines as well as 77 table games. This is an ideal destination for the Table Games enthusiast as available games include Three-Card Poker, Blackjack, Craps, Let It Ride, Pai-Gow Poker and Roulette. Table Game minimums have been known to usually be as low as $5.00, which is an excellent value for the budget-conscious gambler. The casino also had a small, "Poker Room," though it is not a separate room and is basically just a few poker tables with a desk near the sports book. There is a race and sports book as well as two seats for Keno. Unfortunately, as of 2012, the poker room closed and has not since reopened. The Casino does have a Race & Sports Book with spacious and comfortable seating, food and drink service, and a large number of TV's to watch racing and sporting events alike. This casino features five video poker games that return over 98% and three that return over 99%, which are: 99.73% Not-So-Ugly-Ducks Deuces Wild, 99.54% Jacks or Better and 99.17% Bonus Poker. These games are available in a wide variety of denominations with the lowest being $0.25. There are a few other casinos in Reno with slightly better paytables, but these are pretty competitive.

This casino has a hotel with 1,620 guest rooms, which makes it the second-largest hotel in Downtown Reno and the third largest in the greater Reno area. In addition to the spacious rooms, guests of the Circus Circus Reno will enjoy access to a fitness center as well as a business center. The hotel also offers pet housing in the form of rentable kennels with rates varying depending on the day. The Veranda Store at the hotel sells all of your pets necessities and the kennel is videotaped so one can check in on one's pet without ever leaving the hotel room! Every room in the hotel includes a hair dryer, iron and ironing board and free local and toll-free calls with wireless internet access. The resort fee includes free in-room coffee, boarding pass printing, notary services and safety deposit box access. This hotel features a number of different rooms and towers including the North Tower in which the rooms include a 42" HDTV and are available with one King or Two Queen Beds. The North Tower mini-suites are slightly larger at 570 square feet and have two 42" HDTV's. In addition to the standard amenities, these rooms features armchairs, a work desk and mini-fridges with the living room and bedroom separated. The sofa in the living room pulls out into a bed. The Sky Tower rooms are similar to the North Tower rooms but are a bit larger and more recently renovated, the same can be said for the Sky Tower mini-suites. The VIP Suites are 615 square feet in the North Tower and 729 in the Sky Tower. The amenities are comparable to the mini-suite but also have a dining table and spa bath tub. In addition to being more spacious, these suites also feature cherry furniture. The Executive Suites come in at over 1,000 square feet and feature all of the amenities of the VIP suites, but also have two sofas and an extra half bathroom. The spa tub in this bathroom can comfortably accommodate up to three people and the room is adorned in brilliant oak furniture.

The Circus Circus Reno features a number of dining options, including: Dos Geckos Cantina: This restaurant opens at 11:30a daily and is open until 10:00p continuously on Saturdays and until 9:00p continuously on Sundays. Through the week, it closes at 2:00p and re-opens at 5:00p remaining open until 9:00p and 10:00p on Fridays. This is a Mexican restaurant with a varied menu of new dishes and classical Mexican favorites as well as a wide selection of Margaritas and Mexican brews. The Courtyard Buffet: This is an interesting buffet because, in addition to the fresh noodles and other adult favorites, there's a huge section especially for the kids! It is open for dinner from 4:00p-9:00p on Friday and Saturday with Saturday and Sunday brunch from 8:00a-4:00p and 8:00a-3:00p, respectively. The Steakhouse at Circus: The steakhouse, with its quiet and charming atmosphere, is quietly colored and features the best in steak, sea & desserts. It opens at 5:00p from Thurs-Monday and does not have a set closing time. Kokopelli's Sushi: This venue is inside of, and shares hours with, Dos Geckos Cantina and combines traditional sushi combinations with unique ones that are sure to become classics! The best part? It has an all-you-can-eat option! Main Street Deli: This grab-and-go location features a number of easy-to-carry breakfast foods as well as a wide array of soups and sandwiches for lunch or dinner. The hours vary. Americana Café: This establishment opens at 6:00a daily and has not set closing time posted. As the name would imply, this is basically in the theme of an American Style diner and features breakfast, lunch and dinner meals appropriate to the style.

In addition to the shopping, Circus Circus Reno features a number of entertainment options, such as: The Midway: This features 28 carnival games, over 50, "Games of skill," and is sure to be a blast for the entire family, which is what makes this casino an ideal family destination in Reno! There are a number of featured entertainers at Circus Circus including the Imperial Acrobats of China, JR Johns (dog show featuring magic and comedy), Bounce (a team of husband/wife jugglers and acrobats) and another pet show called Noah & His Best Friends. These acts are featured at the Mezzanine and one should call Circus Circus or visit the website for more specific show time details. The Circus Cabaret is open on most Fridays and Saturdays and features a wide range of musical acts which seem to vary every weekend. One should visit the website or call for more details as to this weekend's act.

Circus Circus features the One Club, a player's club through which players may qualify for free play and other special promotions and/or bonuses.

If you want and you SO love to gamble but have children. This is the place to go. There's a circus show in the middle of the arcade every hour or so. I saw a Transvestite that was so beautiful and hot I couldn't believe she had a penis under the thong. The casino is big and slots are loose. Pack up the family and have a ball

Looks like I get to be the first commenter! I just wanted to say that Circus Circus in Reno, Nevada is the best casino I have ever been to if you have children traveling with you. They have a large gaming floor that is just for the family. It's full of carnival style games where you can win prizes like huge stuffed animals. In the center of the gaming floor is a circus ring where they perform circus acts around once an hour if I recall correctly. There are several large Ski Resorts within 30 minutes travel time as well.
