The Beta Fish, commonly known as the Siamese Fighting Fish, is a beautiful yet fearsome animal. This slot takes a tongue in cheek approach toward the theme with boxing gloves, belts and a cast of warriors ready to do battle on the reels. Gameplay includes substitute symbols, scatters, re-spins and the opportunity to multiply each win with strategic gambles.
Fighting Fish Slot Theme
The ‘battleground’ is set beneath the calming waves of the deep blue sea, with a sandy seabed beneath the reels and a number of spectating fish in the water beyond. The reels are surrounded by a red border with a simple canvas color used for each reel.
As mentioned earlier many of the reel icons are fun whilst explaining the backstory of the slot. The red fish icon is set to do battle with the blue fish icon, the referee is a crab, there’s a ring, belt, gloves and spit bucket (although we’re unsure how that would work underwater). These story icons are joined by 9, 10, J, Q, K and A icons on the reels to complete the nine strong lineup.
Betting Options and More Functions
Bets are placed by choosing a coin value, number of coins per line and the number of lines per spin. This wealth of options means players can choose to bet anything from 1 penny to $72 per spin.
Automatic plays are available when using the expert mode only. This adds five and ten quick spin buttons and a rectangular auto play button which is used to place larger numbers of automatic spins.
Fighting Fish Slot Features
Microgaming has included a gamble feature which is available when a win is paid. You can double your win by successfully predicting the next cards colour to quadruple it by choosing the correct suit. This continues until you collect or guess in correctly, the latter will lose you all your winnings.
The red fish and blue fish symbols can appear on the second and fourth reels respectively. Each will substitute for all other symbols excluding the boxing ring scatter. If these icons appear at the same time three re-spins will occur and both reels will be filled with wild symbols.
The boxing ring scatter pays 1x your stake with two symbols, 5x with three symbols, 20x with four symbols and 100x with five symbols.
Our Take on Fighting Fish
Microgaming has taken a kooky theme and combined it with a variety of entertaining features. Gambles, multipliers and re-spins are a welcome change from the standard features seen on other slots.

"Oh yeah, now it rings a bell, indeed WGS one does not have the gamble (havent played Doctor LOve for quite a while). Now that I think of it, WGS one seems different than all others and looks like Cryptologic one I played long ago (it even has that sounds when spinning). Layout and menu seems different as well. With the game being as old as it is, its hard to tell why the difference exist. Nextgen is now under the ownership of NYX so all of their games have the same looking menu, and most of their games feature gamble option. But since Doctor Love predates all these re-brandings and merges, that may explain noticable differencies."READ
