Seeing the name of the slot alone was enough for me to give it a shot. And just as its name says, this Microgaming game offers loads of fun thanks to the unusual employment of an otherwise very traditional and popular sport – karate. So, karate fans, what are you waiting for? Go ahead and find out what this whole Japanese shindig is all about!

“Karate Pig” Characteristics

It’s not easy to write anything negative about a slot that makes you smile from the moment you see it. However, an unbiased approach is essential, so we here will point both its strengths and weaknesses. As mentioned before, one of its major strengths is the theme which introduces you to a karate master-pig, and its numerous friends. Therefore, on the reels, you will find a smiling Buddha, a cute kitten, a Japanese musician, but also a cool sushi bar, a bonsai tree and another fierce karate master – the pig’s foe, etc. All these make the play more enjoyable, but on the other hand, they don’t bring much money, as the base game wins are rarely lucrative.

On the other hand, the situation is significantly improved by the special features which include stacked wilds, scatters, free spins and a bonus feature, all of which work in your favor and may improve the effect of this slot on your casino balance.

Another benefit of this 5-reel, 40-payline video slot is its affordability, as it can be enjoyed by most types of players. This is thanks to the range of its coin denominations which go from 1 to 10 cents, and the possibility to place up to 5 coins per payline, thus boosting the bet amount to the maximum 200 coins per spin.

Special Features

What’s interesting about “Karate Pig”, and not in a good way, is that its spins with Stacked Wilds are not as generous as you’d think, considering that you may often get a spin with two wild reels and still earn no prize in them, or score just a small one, even lower than your bet.

On a brighter note, the other two special features are not only more generous, but also interesting and engaging. Namely, the free spins are activated by two scattered medals on reels 1 and 5. If you’re lucky enough to get them, you’ll receive 15 free spins with a 2x multiplier and the chance to be retriggered. As for the other, bonus feature, it’s awarded by three or more karate pig bonus icons anywhere on the reels. This is a multi-stage bonus, so you can earn belts for completing any of the two bonus rounds on offer. In both Pork Chop and Hammer Bonus, you help the pig show off its karate skills and in return get the hefty prizes it earns for you. However, once you collect the last, black belt, you’ll enter the Final Showdown, in which you fight with your arch-opponent and earn another set of prizes.

This is a perfectly enjoyable title, despite its low pays in the base game. Therefore, if gambling to you is not all about money, but more about the fun factor, this is the title for you. And who knows, perhaps you’ll end up the winner in the Final Showdown!

Karate Pig eh? how cuteeee!! I first played this game because it was available in a number of Microgaming slots tournaments, and I noticed straight away that it didn't seem to be the usual super-high-variance Microgaming affair. Maybe it's because you are restricted to only playing 5 coins per line the numbers seem much smaller than usual? But at the same time, I had a pretty reliable profit in most of those tournaments so decided to give it a try for real money and was pleasantly surprised. The side-features are not great with pretty low better multiples available, but the 2x multiplier free spins have good potential as does the base game because of the stacked wilds on all reels. You'll find 'big' wins are much more common than something such as Thunderstruck2 or Immortal Romance - they just aren't quite AS big as those games. Give it a try especially if you have a bonus wagering requirement you need to burn through and don't want to lose too much of your bankroll, this slot should do the job just nicely!

Karate pig is obviously a cartoon ripoff of "karate kid". It is a nice looking slot and has interesting cartoon like graphics. It is quite a popular slot and I have seen it listed as a "hot" game at a lot of casino. It is a 40 line slot and 1 thing you can notice right away is this slot is quite low variance. Nearly every spin is a win but most wins will mean no profit. Wild symbols are the "karate pig" and they come in stacked. As you win on almost every spin, the base game can be fun to play. I think the only way of winning a nice amount from the base game is to hit something with a few stacked wilds rolling in. As I can recall I had a hit on the base game once that included 3 reels of wilds, this was about 50x bet win which isnt too bad. If you get 3 chef pig scatter symbols it brings you onto the bonus game. I remember you get to pick 1 of 2 bonus games to play. I can only remember one of them which is where you have about 6 ice blocks to pick from. All but 1 has a prize under. You keep picking until you find the 1 with no prize, then it's game over. As we all know, the graphics and animations in bonus rounds like that are just there to make it look pretty. It has probably already decided your prize before and if the next pick is due to be "game over", it will be "game over" no matter which selection you make. After playing the bonus game, you go up to the next karate belt. I have no idea what going up a rank does, it must just be cosmetic as it has no impact on game play or the bonus rounds you can get. Free spins can be activated when you get a gold coin on reels 1 and 5. I cant remember how well these free spins pay as I have only had them once from what I can remember. I guess karate pig is a nice quirky slot, people in general seem to like it.
