Top Espresso Games Gaming Casinos

Did you know that Luxor is an Egyptian city and the name of a swanky pyramid shaped casino in Las Vegas. This game combines both of these things; gambling and Egyptian culture are melded as one.

Gameplay occurs over five reels and 18 paylines and includes free spins, scatters and wilds.

Luxor Theme

At first glance you might struggle to find the slots logo but it is there. The designers have opted for a subtle etching cum hieroglyphic design above the reels for this. This design envelopes the reels too which creates a dark, torch lit, atmosphere akin to exploring a real life tomb (we're basing this on Indiana Jones and the like!).

There are five reels which each show three icons at a time. These include Cleopatra, mummies, sarcophagus, Anubis, cobras and panthers as regular icons (plus a smattering of traditional figures). Other icons include free spins, scarab beetles and pyramids which all have a hand to play in bonus features, read on to find out how.

Betting Options and More Functions

ViG games are renowned for offering a huge betting range and Luxor isn't about the break that tradition. Players can choose to bet anything from 0.02 to $450 per game which is plenty of choice in our opinion.

Luxor Slot Features

The sarcophagus wild icon will work with the mummy, Cleopatra, panther, cobra and a couple of others as a substitute. However there are numerous icons which it cannot substitute for (10, J, Q, K, A, scatters and bonus) which does limit it somewhat.

Scarab beetles always rear their heads on Egyptian slots and on this one it awards prizes when two to five of them appear in any position. At best this means you’ll win 100x your bet whilst two icons will still bag you twice your wager.

Anubis, the Egyptian God is your key to the magic carpet bonus round. You’ll need three to open the game which asks you to spin the magic carpet marker to win instant bonus wins. There are four levels in total, whilst prizes do get larger you are more likely to lose too.

A second bonus game is triggered when three or more pyramid icons appear on adjacent reels. You’ll be rewarded for dropping the ball onto the pyramid; it sounds kooky but it works a treat.

Did you know the Nile is filled with crocodiles? Well, on this slot two, three, four or five crocodiles will award 2, 5, 20 or 50 free spins. That’s a great deal however you look at it.

Our Take on Luxor

Egyptian themed slots are always popular, especially when they include additional features such as the five included here. Luxor simply lives up to its famous heritage, give it a try and review it yourself on our forums.

I have seen some good winnings from the base game with the higher symbols but any bonus game is hard to hit and it might take a very long time until you are there. The number of bonus symbols is not helpfull either, I would prefer it less than this one offer because they all stays there and you have mostly nothing. Not a good concept but you can go with the base game and not care for the bonus round. Free spins are ridiculous too.

Another Egypt themed slot but this one seemed a little boring to me and winnings was also not on my side. It happened also something rare to me, when a 4 of a kind involving a couple of wilds symbols matched on the active payline number 1 was not payed, I'm not sure if that was a bug or not but it is not-motivating.
  • I really like this game!! Has lots of bonus games and different ways to win!!

Luxor seems to have a bunch of potential, but I found myself disappointed several times in the short time I was playing it. For a start, there are so many bonus symbols its beyond ridiculous - 4 different sets infact, and most of them are not scatters, so be prepared to have a tonne of spins with endless bonus symbols across the reels rather than any wins. Theres also the horrible feature whereby the wild is only wild for about 4 of the top symbols. It's a nice looking game with a decent paytable, but it could all have been done so, so much better.
