How to play Aces and Faces

Aces & Faces is a poker variant where the Ace cards pay the second highest payout of all (the top honours remain with the Royal Flush). Players can use up to 25 hands per game, can select from a range of bets and can even learn how to play the game from an in-depth info guide - all courtesy of Oryx Gaming.

How to Play Aces & Faces

Aces & Faces is a video slot through-and-through, which means bets are configured digitally rather than choosing casino chips. You will first need to choose an ante stake (0.01 to $1) using the arrow buttons at the bottom. You can use this ante bet up to 5 times per hand by increasing or decreasing the coins option. Finally you will need to decide whether to play 1, 4. 10 or 25 hands by selecting them at the top of the screen; then you're ready to play Aces & Faces.

Aces & Faces begins with a hand of 5 cards from which the machine will select the strongest. You can also choose your cards manually, which is great if you prefer to call the shots. After this the final draw is made and cards are issued for any you (or the machine) chose to discard. It's at this time that you'll know if you have achieved a winning hand (if playing multiple hands all the winning ones are marked as such).

I really like the fact that you can quickly choose between various numbers of hands, although it did take me a while to notice those controls - I definitely don't think the graphics are as good as they should be for a modern on-line casino, though I do think the cards themselves are well drawn and very easy to read quickly which is perhaps the most important issue with regards presentation for a video poker game. I've not seen this version offered for real money as yet but did have quite a lot of luck playing this version for fun so will be keeping an eye out for it!

Euggh, this is an extremely ugly looking video poker emulation , not surprisingly its from the Sin City casino, where the slots also look cheap and nasty - just like those slots though, if you can get over the poor presentation, the game itself really is not too bad. Theres plenty of features - one, four, ten and 25 hand variants are all included in this game, and the paytable remains the same across all of them unlike many machines in land based casinos. There is even a half double feature as well as the standard double, a feature I really like but that is still not commonplace online right now, and play is very quick as well (though be sure to use the >>> symbols on the right hand side of the display to set the game to maximum speed, its painfully slow on the other settings) Just a shame about the presentation then, but if you can put up with that once you have learnt your way around the controls this is a very playable version.
