Fast-paced online gambling legalization bill faces Budget Appropriations Committee
On Dec. 23, the Budget Appropriations Committees in the New Jersey legislature will be considering Senator Ray Lesniak's S490 bill seeking to legalise intrastate online gambling in order to make certain small changes in the financial provisions formal, before sending the bill to the Assembly floor.
Lesniak expressed hope that the bill will be approved around Jan. 6, as it was announced by Assembly Speaker Sheila Oliver that the Assembly will not return for votes on Dec. 20 as the Christmas time is getting near.
"The Assembly moved three gaming and horse racing bills through the Budget Committee today and plans to continue working on this issue into early January to be sure we get it right," Oliver specified, speaking about a number of bills for improvement of the fortunes of the ailing Atlantic City, including the legalization of online gambling at AC casinos.
