Other companies show interest as well
Based on the recent reports by The Telegraph, Ladbrokes are seriously entering the race for takeover of online gambling group 888, allegedly offering a sum of GBP 240 million. However, they may face some serious competition with Sportingbet also reportedly interested in the acquisition.
The daily states that investors may actually oppose the CEO, Richard Glynn since 888 still has not reached a settlement with the U.S. Department of Justice on its pre-UIGEA activities unlike rivals PartyGaming and Sportingbet.
The initial attempt made by Ladbrokes to buy 888 four years ago was worth GBP470 million.
