GBP270 000 raised for charity

Marie Curie Cancer Care Charity has received a massive support from the UK land gambling group Rank plc, which managed to raise GBP270 000 in the year so far.

The partnership will be extended for another year, according to the recent announcement made by the group, which has reached target GBP200 000 two months early in 2010.

The brands owned by Rank include Mecca Bingo, G and Grosvenor Casinos, as well as Rank Interactive. The group’s staff used a number of ways to raise the money – starting from in-club events for customers such as Blooming Great Tea Parties, book sales and fashion shows, to taking on personal challenges such as cycle rides, sky dives and even playing a game of High Stakes Poker at the top of Mount Snowdon.

It was stated by Marie Curie Cancer Care Fundraising Director Fabian French: “Rank Group team members and customers have done a sterling job, reaching their fundraising target for the year in just 10 months. They should be proud to know that the funds raised to date will help the charity provide 12 500 hours of Marie Curie nursing care".

This is not the first year that the group has supported the charity; it all began in 2009 and in terms of this cooperation the group CEO Ian Burke said: “We never cease to be amazed by the team spirit and generosity of both our team members and customers. I’m very proud of how our teams, both across the sites and in the support offices, have embraced this partnership and we look forward to continuing to raise funds for such a worthy cause in 2011.”
