Recently, the Dutch government introduced new initiative regarding regulation of online gambling in the country, but at the same time it started a new war – that against unlicensed and illegal sites operating in its market.
According to latest reports in the Dutch media, the government has now found a new tactics for the battle – namely, it plans to instruct banks in the country to refuse to do business with illegal gambling sites, hoping that they will do as suggested and reject credit card transactions made with websites that do not have Dutch licensing.
It was further specified that a list of illegal online gambling sites will be sent to banks by the Dutch banking association, and that at this point banks can choose to act in line with the suggestion or not.
