Casino-style games soon to be ready for launch
An announcement came this week of a potential new venture by online casino games developer PopCap, which is apparently preparing a range of casino-style games to be launched on Facebook, in addition to the new domain purchases, changes to a Facebook page and a recent trademark application for ‘Lucky GemCasino.’
This move follows the EA acquisition of PopCap Games for $650 million plus $100 million stock and a multi-year earn-out. The total price of the July acquisition is estimated at as much as $1.3 billion.
This may be an excellent move for PopCap, around 80 percent of whose earnings come from digital platforms through titles such as Plants vs Zombies, Zuma and Bejeweled.
