The pastime got excluded from the list of acceptable businesses
The new UK Google Affiliate Network, which has gone live this week, apparently excluded online gambling from the list of acceptable businesses; the pastime was thus thrown in the same basket as other activities perceived as harmful or socially unacceptable, such as adult sites, weapons and tobacco.
What appears unusual about this move is the fact that back in late 2008, the UK division of Google lifted its ban on internet gambling adverts.
So far, no explanation has arrived from the giant company as per why some categories of companies are on the excluded list.
The new Google Affiliate Networks is designed to furnish a platform for commercial companies to interact and generate business through affiliate marketing websites, paying only for traffic that actually produces sales and business.
