Illegal online gambling gets struck once again
A new action has been conducted by Malaysian federal police against illegal online gambling, in which the specialized CyberSecurity and Multimedia Investigation Division of the Commercial Crimes Investigations Department has been tracking an unspecified number of online gambling sites offering a wide array of bets.
According to the Commercial Crimes Investigations Department director Comm. Datuk Syed Ismail Syed Azizan, the police were trying to establish whether these sites were operated locally or were linked to international operators.
He added: “The CyberSecurity and Multimedia Investigation Division has been directed to check the origin of the websites as part of the probe.”
In conclusion, he also specified that other agencies, such as the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission and Interpol, will be asked for help in investigations.
