SKAT in jurisdictional collaboration drive
Since its formation, SKAT, the Danish gambling regulator has been very active in the domain of cooperation with other European regulatory regimes, so far inking MOUs with Malta, Gibraltar, Alderney, Jersey and the Isle of Man.
These MOUs strive at making the collaboration between the regulators closer and more efficient, particularly in the field of issues of common interest such as enforcement, player protection and licensing and regulatory procedures.
In addition, these MOUs come in handy in cases where Denmark shares licensees with other jurisdictions with which it has signed agreements, as it helps them avoid needless duplication of licensing requirements, and enables them to share responsible gaming projects and even engage in employee exchange programs.
What this implies is that operators regulated in jurisdictions covered by the MOUs can offer online gambling in Denmark without having to comply with Danish requirements for servers to be based in-country.
