Cooperation essential because of the Olympics
The chief of French gambling regulator ARJEL, Jean-Francois Vilotte a few months ago revealed plans about close collaboration with his British and Italian equivalents. He also announced talks with the AAMS and the UK Gambling Commission aimed at information sharing relationship.
Obviously everything went well, judging by Vilotte's announcement about signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the British regulator, represented by executive director Jenny Williams.
Similar arrangements are at an advanced stage with the Italians as well, according to what was said lately.
The MoU is seen as a much needed catalyst for closer relationship and more harmony in the fragmented and self-centred regulatory regimes of the gambling nations in Europe and something that the EU Parliament and the European Commission is very keen to promote.
