Back New Anti-Gambling Actions in Malaysia

Another three gambling venues were raided and shut down by the Malaysian police led by Asst Supt Shaharudin Abdul Wahab in the city of Mentakab.

During the raid, conducted thanks to a tip-off, three caretakers and twelve customers aged between 20 and 50 were arrested, and 38 computers, three modems and RM 614 were confiscated.

Regarding the raids, acting OCPD Supt Zundin Mahmood said: “We believe the outlets were operating as gambling dens under the guise of cyber cafes. Penalties under the Common House Gambling Act carry a minimum fine of RM 10 000 per machine and/or up to five years in prison and owners of the premises will be subject to further investigations.”
