A report came this week that the social chat site Twitter has been compromised as anonymous hackers had managed to gain access to about 250,000 user accounts.
It has been specified that only "limited information" such as email addresses was compromised, and that in an attempt to remedy this, Twitter has already reset passwords for affected users, and will notify them soon.
Furthermore, Twitter said: "This attack was not the work of amateurs, and we do not believe it was an isolated incident. The attackers were extremely sophisticated, and we believe other companies and organizations have also been recently similarly attacked."
The attack took place only days after the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal announced they had been the target of a well-coordinated hacking effort.
