Back Aussie Green Party Campaigns for Restrictions on Gambling Ads

At the moment, the Australian Green Party is in a campaign for introduction of restrictions on gambling advertising, it was reported this week.

First of all, the party is urging for a federal government controlled study of the impact of gambling ads on children, problem gambling and the integrity of sport.

Then, it also focuses on venue and broadcast advertising; the role of sponsorship alongside traditional forms of advertising; and in-game promotion and the integration of gambling into commentary and coverage, said the Greens' gambling spokesman, Senator Richard Di Natale.

It was also reported that the proposal will likely request a joint standing parliamentary committee on gambling to look at the advertising and promotion of gambling services in sport, with Di Natale asserting that people are sick of the saturation of gambling advertising.

He concluded, saying that “This is an issue that affects everybody, people are sick of sitting down and watching a game of footy and being bombarded by gambling ads”
