This week the Dubai Court of First Instance sentenced 16 men to prison for operating an illegal casino and arranging online poker games and gambling in an electronic games shop in Jumeirah Beach.
Four of them have received 12-month sentences, while the other 12 got three months each. The court also decided to deport 13 of those who are non-Emirati defendants.
According to court records, the installation of Cassava Enterprises-powered LotosPoker software on gaming machines gave punters the ability to wager on online games with Party Poker and Party Casino. The operation was reported by an informant, and thanks to this and an undercover police action the arrests were successfully made.
