Back Casino Operator Fined Euro 100k by Dutch Gaming Authority

The Dutch Gaming Authority Kansspelautoriteit has slapped casino operator Global Stars with a €100,000 fine for violating Dutch law and soliciting its residents.

A Kansspelautoriteit statement claims that it sent an important message to other operators that might have ideas about offering services to Dutch residents. The law is currently being reviewed to allow online gambling from Dutch operators only.

GlobalStars use the following domains which link back to myglobalgames.com: myglobalgames.com, boekesbingo.nl and myglobalgames.nl.

"It is of social importance that consumers are informed and warned that if they participate in online gambling there are risks. I also expect that the disclosure of the penalty decision to other companies and individuals will have a preventive effect and make it clear that the provision of (online) gambling without a Dutch license is prohibited in the Netherlands," Jan Suyver, chairman of the board of directors of the Gaming Authority said.
