The Dutch gaming authority, Kansspelautoriteit plans for legal online gambling in 2014 and intends to reach out to Netherlands media in an attempt to get them to reject advertising from illegal operators.
As for the operators, the gaming authority does not plan to handle them so gently. A Kansspelautoriteit statement in September said that operators illegally offering games to Dutch players would be fined.
“I expect that the disclosure of the penalty decision to other companies and individuals will have a preventive effect and make it clear that the provision of (online) gambling without a Dutch license is prohibited in the Netherlands," Jan Suyver, chairman of the the Gaming Authority said.
