The Texas governor and presidential 2016 candidate Rick Perry, said that he intends to work toward the banning of online gambling in the state.
"Congress needs to step in now and call a 'time-out' by restoring the decades-long interpretation of the Wire Act," Perry said in a letter.
There speculation that Adelson’s anti-gambling campaign could have something to do with Perry’s position on the issue. The politicians have at one time or another received political donations from Adelson.
In his letter, Perry also asks that Congress "...carefully examine the short- and long-term social and economic consequences before Internet gambling spreads."
"You won’t find a piece of proposed legislation that better protects state’s rights," Texas Representative Joe Barton said regarding his bill also indicating that it involves "protections for consumers and stops problem gamblers and underage players from having access to poker sites."

This congress needs to step in now and call a 'time-out' by restoring the Wire Act is not gonna happen and it doesn't even apply anymore. Rick Perry better watch what he does and does not support. He will ill bis chance to even dream about being president.
