Declined Credit Card Transactions Limit Success of NJ Online Gambling Market

Declined Credit Card Transactions Limit Success of NJ Online Gambling Market Processor CAMS LLC revealed that online gambling in Atlantic City hasn’t been as successful as it could be since only 44 to 46 percent of credit card transactions were approved by credit card companies.

CAMS processes transactions for the Borgata, Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort and Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino.

Visa branded cards posed the biggest problem with 44 percent approvals but then again American Express and Discover do not authorize any online gambling related transactions.

Mastercard users saw the most success with 73 percent of transactions approved.

"New Jersey patrons continue to experience difficulties in use of their personal credit and debit card accounts in funding individual Internet gaming accounts," said, Deputy Attorney General Mary Jo Flaherty from the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement adding that the DGE "...continues to work directly with financial institutions, banks and credit card companies and relevant regulators and authorities with respect to the legality of online gaming where authorized as in New Jersey, as well as regarding the appropriateness of payment processing for legalized online gaming."
