The British political, legislative and administration is working quickly to implement the new online gambling point-of-consumption secondary licensing and taxation laws announcing that the Gambling (Licensing and Advertising) Act 2014 will be in place prior to the initial projection of October 1st.
All online gambling operators providing gambling services to UK punters must think about submitting licensing applications by September 16th.
Plans move forward despite a call for a judicial review by the Gibraltar Betting and Gaming Association who is opposed to the law; however its opposition has not received support from major gambling groups such as William Hill, Ladbrokes and Bet365.

We can only pray that this legislation will not have dire consequences for players in the UK - whilst we can relax in that our major providers like William Hill, Ladbrokes et al are always going to take the necessary steps to ensure they can continue to serve us here, there are many smaller operations who might decide to pull out of this market now as has happened in other european countries when similar taxation was introduced. I recognise that this is a response to the evolution of gambling into the online arena, but it still feels pretty wrong that the government finds a way to get its claws into every possible new source of revenue even if the implications for peoples livelihoods - for example, in Gibraltar, where these changes could cost hundreds of jobs hence the opposition there - could well adversely affect their projected profit.
