The list of online casinos without the Bulgarian license continues to grow as the Bulgarian State Commission on Gambling keeps adding more domains. The blacklist is now totaling at 313 websites, latest additions being the major Gibraltar-based online gambling companies 32Red and Stan James.
The lack of interest among online operators was induced by prohibitive costs attached to licensing, which included a 15 percent tax on turnover until last December. Things are about to change as Bulgarian political establishment appeared to notice this, changing the tax to a far more palatable one of 20 percent on gross profits. The change should see more operators making application this year.
