Danish poker pro Gus Hansen, is said to be down $20 million in online high stakes poker games but managed to recover a bit over the weekend with $636,000 in winnings.
Hansen took $528,000 on fixed limit Omaha Eight or Better games on Sunday, most of which came from French nosebleed player Alex "Alexonmoon" Luneau.
He still has a long way to go to recover all he has lost. According to the High Stakes Database Hansen is down $5.2 million just this year as a result of major losses in draw games, Pot Limit Omaha, Eight Game and Mixed H.A.

I can really associate with the guy he must have felt so relieved that his bad run was finally turning around, I've played a hell of a lot of on-line poker and sometimes it really does feel that the bad beats are never ending and that the card rooms are rigging the deck against you personally (lol) .... of course its silly!

If I have that kind of many,$20m million, I'll enjoy life to the fullest. You already have that money why risk it. But I guess there are people who gets the kick playing high risk, risking everything for the thrill. I just hope Gus will be able to recover all his loses, but when one wins another one loses. :)

Not to be mean of something like that but I hope to lose 20 mil $ in a year, one day. I hope these losses are money from other poker tournaments, because WOW, most people don't spend, with all their family members, this much money in a life time. Good luck to you in the future Gus Hansen, i'm rooting for you!

Oh dear. The man has lost a hell of a lot of money, whether he can really recover his loss, that's very questionable, whether the man has problematic gambling behavior? In any case, a loss of 20 million dollars, sounds very hard. Oh dear. But the guy lost a hell of a lot of money, whether he can really recoup his loss,...

A loss of $20 million is easy to lose in high limits, but retrieving , it is very difficult, and requires time. Even if you have the money that Gus has.

Obviously he had very bad year...like myself : ) Many people says- if I have 20 million will never risk them, but the man have 20 mil. Because he is a poker player - that is hes day job. He can't quit like that. Yes maybe he is a risky player and sometimes he will loose a lot but in a good day or year things can quickly...

Nice one Armage, i'm the same, feel like hitting something after a 20$ lost, don't imagine how i'd feel after a 20 million one lol. And yeah, some people don't realize when to stop.. i mean, you're used to an excentric life style, used to having money, betting every day, nobody says you're not, but flushing 20 mil's down...

Oh well.. the world has enough problems as it is now, maybe he thinks of donating in the future, not playing it all.

$20 million down... If I had $20 million I wouldn't spend a second on earning cash and just enjoy my life. :D Seriously, people never have enough?! :D What are they going to do with all of this cash? Eat it? :D Anyway, at least he felt what I feel playing poker recently :D

The reason he lost so much in the first place is because his style is wild, crazy off the wall and he is way too loose! I think he was one of the first pros to turn the game on its head kind of similar to mercier apart from jason plays tighter but both are literally capable of having any 2 cards and their aggressive/risky...

No matter how much cash you have. Down over $20M in total, playing online poker got to sting like hell. Even the thought of it gives me anxiety.

I'm a fan of Gus Hansen from watching his tournament play on TV but over the years it seems that, when it comes to ring games at least, there is more news of him losing big than winning.

WOW! I can't even imagine playing with $20 million! I really think that if I had that much money, i wouldn't see the need to risk it. I guess some people really are addicted to the thrill and excitement of taking huge risks. I do feel for Gus, though, as I feel bad for everyone that loses money gambling - if only we could...
