Russia's Internet overseer Roskomnadzor has taken steps to ISP blacklist several Bitcoin websites.
Russian federal law justifies the action under Article 27, which states that rouble is Russia's sole legal currency and other monetary substitutions, including cyber-currencies, are not allowed.
It appears to be the first steps in banning all bitcoin friendly online gambling websites from accessing the market. It is reported that the Russian Government would fine users that are discovered to be: "mining, or issuing Bitcoin or other digital currencies.” The span of fines would go from 30,000 and 50,000 rubles for individual users, all the way to 1,000,000 rubles for business.
So far the list of blocked websites include:
- bitcoin.org,
- indacoin.com,
- coinspot.ru,
- hasbitcoin.ru,
- bitcoinconf.ru,
- bitcoin.it,
- btcsec.com.
Are there any other Bitcoin site to be blocked is yet to be seen.

I think Putler lost a lot of bitcoins there so that's why he blocked these casinos:)

The Russian authorities are very strict and rigorous about any violations in the web but the bitcoin as a currency stands since 2009 and I don't believe it will die just yet. Many companies and governments are against this net currency because of their interests and huge profits.

Hehe, sure they fear of bitcoin, because they can't control it at all, and people can do whatever they want with bitcoins. Not the best sign of bitcoin of course, but it is still nothing in matter of the full bitcoin use. They can't block all website i guess, so this actions from them are generally useless at all.

Well, Nothing starnge from Russia here.. By the way, bitcoins are very manipulated currency, so You can't be safe with them as far, but very flexible and fastest way to send/get money without charge.. It's great allternative, but no way it gonna be main currency one day. Over-heated :D

Russia is very strict about some things but in this case I agree with this. I don't really understand this bitcoin casinos and why they need bitcoin casino when you can play on this regular online casinos. I prefer regular casinos, always play in $ and this is the best for me and easy to understand.
