Calling All Americans to Support Internet Freedom

Calling All Americans to Support Internet Freedom

The Poker Players Alliance "We the People" petition to the White House seeks the support of President Obama to step in to oppose the Restoration of America's Wire Act as it attacks state rights and internet freedom.

The petition needs 100,000 signatures by May 2, 2015 but as of nearly mid-April, the petition has just over 3,800 signatures.

The petition was posted by PPA vice president Rich Muny 10 days ago and despite the media attention, it has failed to attract many signers.

Support your right to gamble and shut down Sheldon Adelson’s RAWA anti-online gambling campaign. Americans have until May 2nd to take action.

Only your initials may be shown on the public petition but if you have concerns, read over the privacy policy.

Add your name to the petition here.

  • From what I observed when I was more active in online poker several years back, the PPA doesn't seem to be a particularly effective lobby group. It really shouldn't be that hard to get 100K signatures just from Americans who play online if news of this petition is spread through the right channels - although I wonder if that alone is enough to defeat RAWA or if it's just meant to symbolize public opposition.
  • is very funny a petition that require 100.000 signatures adressed to a population of 400 millions lol. if you ask me is dust in the eye. as i know, federal laws are above any state laws and the UIGEA anti-online gambling law is in federal hands. also internet freedom with NSA as an entity is just a sweet dream. look at poor Julian Assange and Edward Snowden interviews. i don't think this online gambling restriction will be ever lift in the US since the interest is to keep welcome people in land based casinos where winnings can be taxed simple without hassle. and the taxes are huge... never understood the excessive excitement of those youtubers that got a handpay when a consistent part of it represents taxes...
  • I'm very surprised that so few people have signed under the petition. If I was the US citizen, would do it right away. What can I say, if the US players wants to gamble now is the moment to prove that with their actions. There is still time until May 2nd but don't seem very likely the number to be reached.
  • I couldn't agree more pinkxxx! I'm shocked at the lack of signatures this petition has gotten. People obviously care about the issue so what's the problem?
  • As a person who used to live in the US I hope a lot and enough people sign this. It may not help much but it needs to be done . Everyone there is constantly complaining about the laws , now is their time to be heard about it . This petition need to be put in as many platforms as you can get it . Time is running out and it looks like you need quite a lot more petitions . Even I encourage all americans to sign this , even for people who don't gamble its your right on the internet to do what you please ...within respectful reason of course . Hope the US gets their right to online gambling soon.
