The right to bear arms, a part of the U.S. constitution that has seen much controversy over the years, may be in jeopardy in the event that Sheldon Adelson’s, Restoration of the American Wire Act (RAWA), successfully passes as a federal law, according the publication, New American.
Adelson’s, RAWA, aims to overturn single state laws regarding internet gambling, and New American suggests that if it were to be placed into effect, it would violate states’ rights according to the constitution, which may, in turn, then affect the federal government to limit or potentially prohibit arms and ammunition sales.
It appears that the Gun Owners of America are on board with New American arguments, and a spokesperson for the organization stated in a radio interview, “Some conservatives, such as [Representative] Jason Chaffetz of Utah, say ‘Let’s regulate online gambling on the internet’. This legislation is being pushed by the bricks and mortar gambling people, led by Sheldon Adelson of Las Vegas, who don’t want online gambling because they want people coming to their casinos.”
The spokesperson added, “It’s just another move which compromises conservatives’ ability to say “don’t regulate the internet” because you have people saying conservatives should regulate the internet for conservative purposes. The bottom line is: don’t regulate the internet. Don’t regulate it for conservative purposes, don’t regulate it for liberal purposes. It’s just none of the government’s business.”
RAWA May Affect U.S. Constitution

One more thing, does anyone remember the horror movie the Leprechaun? Doesn't Adelson look like the Leprechaun? Gross!

OOpaloo that was a perfect synopsis of what the article is suggesting. Thank you, it might help readers grasp the entirety of the situation a little better. As far as I am concerned, Adelson is a greedy old man that needs to fade off into the Nevada sunset with a hooker and some whiskey! He is the poster boy for what is destroying our country! Campaign contributions buy off our "SO-CALLED" civil servants at every level of Government. That being said, Hell would freeze over before I handed over my guns to the government. Unfortunately, our politicians are too easily bought and therefore much too corrupt to be trusted with my security.

I thought a true conservative perspective was one that puts individual liberty first. So regulating the internet should not be a conservative issue...as far as the connection between states rights and the interests of brick and mortar casino's and how the right to bear arms lands in this mix. I am confused honestly. I suppose what the article says is that conservatives who perhaps want to regulate or censor the internet due to their moral values also support gun ownership...so these two agendas become a conflict for American conservatives, as they want both to control content on the internet and to own guns. And a legal precedent could be set that threatens gun ownership if they succeed in regulating the internet through the propose law backed by the brick and mortar casino industry. You can't have everything sometimes I guess.

The US federal government stayed out of same sex marriage until an overwhelming majority of states legalized it. They are also staying out of the sale of recreational and medical marijuana, allowing the states to make that decision separately. New Jersey already has online gambling operations directly connected to their land based casinos and the feds haven't closed them down. Many other land based casino operators in several other states have social gambling sites online, planning to change them over into full online gambling sites as soon as legislation is passed. Now we have Donald Trump running for president and we know he's pro gambling along with the many American players. I don't believe that Sheldon Adelson is going to succeed, even with all his antics. But, I have no illusions about his capabilities. He is definitely someone we need to keep our eye on, but he is no good for anything that is good for America.

Sheldon Adelson is a greedy, sneaky, forked tongue, crook! If more of us U.S. players do not pay heed to this low-life's underhanded agenda, we might find our online gaming a complete thing of the past. Each and everyone of us U.S. citizens MUST do any and everything available to stop this unscrupulous, deviant, narcissistic, crook! We need to write our representatives or even better yet, flood this moron with emails against his greed. Everyone can do something even as simple as passing the word on about this joker.
