Dutch gambling authority Kansspelautoriteit has assessed its highest fine thus far to Redcorp S.A. and Bluemay Enterprises NV, the companies behind Red Slots.com, for illegally offering gambling services to the Dutch market.
The authority also noted that the Red Slots website says that its financial transactions are handled via a British subsidiary of Bluemay Enterprises NV, Megaton Ltd, which is no longer in operation.
A promotion running on Red Slots’ weeronline.nl and nu.nl domains targeting Dutch players triggered an investigation from November 2014 to March 2015. The sites displayed a Dutch Flag and advertised a bonus of Euro 3 to new registrants.
Both companies, licensed in Curacao, were familiar with Dutch regulations as they were previously fined Euro 13,000 in October 2014.
Due to the second offense, Kansspelautoriteit has slapped each company with a Euro 240,000 fine for a total of Euro 480,000.
Legislation to regulate payments and implement ISP blocking is in the works. Jan Suyver, chairman of the Kansspelautoriteit said, “We can only hope that the parliament adopts legislation quickly.”

I always assumed the only power the government had was to try to block the functioning in terms of internet reception and payments. I know players aren't held liable save for taxes on winnings if they play at the many unlicensed casino's available. I wonder if some day there could be an international agreement that would make the market more free and global? I guess that is a bit utopian that is a situation vis-a-vis regulation, licensing and taxes where the various governments, casino operators and players were all happy...
