Microgaming Officially Holds Guinness World Records Title

So it’s official. Microgaming holds the Guinness World Records title for the ‘Largest jackpot payout in an online slot machine game (nominal)’.

Back on October 6, 2015, Betway player Jonathan Heywood of the UK hit Microgaming’s Mega Moolah progressive jackpot banking £13,213,838 (€17,879,645.12) with a conservative 25p bet.

The win has gone through a lengthy review process involving Betway, Microgaming and eCOGRA, before the results could be confirmed.

A spokesperson for Guinness World Records said, “I’m pleased to confirm that the Guinness World Records title for the largest jackpot payout in an online slot machine game is €17,879,645.12, which was won by Jonathan Heywood, while playing Microgaming’s Mega Moolah on Betway's website.”

On Thursday, Roger Raatgever, CEO of Microgaming, said, “When news broke about Jon’s amazing jackpot win back in October, we were overjoyed – what an incredible and heart-warming story. We’ve achieved many industry records over the years, but to be officially awarded a Guinness World Records title is a special and proud moment for us all. It cements our position in providing the largest and most exciting progressive jackpot network in the industry. We can’t wait to hang the certificate in our office reception!”

Players are drawn to Microgaming’s progressive jackpot Slots because you don’t have to wager large stakes for a chance to win. As proven by Jon and many others, you can become an instant millionaire without breaking the bank.

The record is published and available for you to view here.

18million from a bet of 0.25€ is just insane! Seems that the bet size does not matter at all since many past mega winners has been playing for low bets, ( Betsson 17M€/0,25€ bet Megamoolah 5.5m 0,5€bet and so on) Should just put 1 line and autoplay to see if you can win megajackpot for 1 cent bet :D. The next jackpot has my name written on it! Goodluck ppl!

Mega Moolah has been making a lot of people happy and rich and so true with a minimal bet . I cant believe he won that much on that bet . I play it now and then but not for long periods. Havent been lucky with it yet and if it doesn't pot out I find I don't make anything to keep or increase my bankroll so I pick something different . Going to keep poking at it ! Congrats to the winner hope he spent his money wisely . Enjoy!

Well done, 25p bet and still winning a jackpot? The story is so crazy AND true. I am not into jackpot slots and after reading a lot of stories about them I should probably give it a try. 25p, my dear. A hero of online gambling.

I was just reading OOPaloo's comment about how Microgaming casinos that operate in Denmark do not give players their progressive games portfolio? Huh? Even with whatever licensing issues, I don't understand! IMO, you either get their games or you don't. Progress games are regulated or licensed separately.... Well that doesn't ....... Or does it ..... Huh......

Yes that is very nice for all concerned, the lucky winner, Microgaming and the other business's involved and the many players who use Microgaming jackpot slot games in hopes of winning the big one for a small bet. I am however, a little cranky about it and that is because these jackpot games are unavailable to Danish players. For some reason that has to do with Danish licensing Microgaming casino's that operate in Denmark do not offer Major Millions, Mega Moolah and other progressive jackpot games. I miss those chances to dream of the big one. But there is the state run casino where one player won about six million US dollars on an extremely small bet from a 30 kroner free bonus he got not too long ago. Anyway...I miss the Microgaming progressives.
