Gambling Quotes - Pearls of Wisdom

Gambling and memorable gambling quotes, both funny and serious, have been with mankind since time began. Here are a few of my favorites along with their sources;

It's hard to walk away from a winning streak and even harder to leave the table when you are on a losing one."
Cara Bertola, author,
'Cruise Quarters -- A Novel About Casinos and Cruise Ships.'

The first thing he noticed was that Las Vegas seemed to have invented a new school of functional architecture, 'The Gilded Mousetrap School,' he thought it might be called, whose main purpose was to channel the customer-mouse into the central gambling trap whether he wanted the cheese or not"

Every gambler needs to hit that one morning, day or night, when everything goes right and you will talk about that run until the day you die"
Robert Black,
'Blackjack, Me and She.'

When you are gambling although you probably don't know it, your mind is on the tide, the ebb and flow of the universe, and there is no way to fight it. Going with the flow is the only option so there is no point in struggling against it. But it will tell you where you sit with God or the universe at that particular time in your life"
Robert Black.

Danny Thomas.

And finally, this quote from Richard Sasuly: "Nobody has ever bet enough on a winning horse."

  • Some of those are really good . I particulary like Alex trebeks and Danny Thomas quotes. I can relate to Some are lacking and could have been left out . I wonder how many of them actually came up with the quote originally or did they google them HA HA. that would be funny.
  • A couple of these quotes are humorous. Some of them, I think you have to read a couple of times to get it. I am guessing the serious quotes are among those I don't understand. I see that I know and/or understand even less about gambling than I thought I did after reading this article. I heard this gambling quote many years ago and still don't know what it means or where it came from. "I don't gamble, I just take chances." And because I read a couple of quotes that had nothing to do with gambling, well, in my opinion anyway, I thought I'd also throw in this quote I heard a long time ago and also have no idea who to give the credit to; 'When a hen is clucking, she is either laying or lying.' Ha, ha, ha...........
