It is a new year and a new beginning.
All the failures of the past are history. Now is the moment. Now I will survive and thrive.
I gamble with the wind.
I have learned from my mistakes. My head has cleared from the errors of the past.
Every game has its rules and the techniques for overcoming it. Experience teaches us things and as we learn, we progress.
I have watched friends fall by the wayside, victims of their own false beliefs in a superiority that only existed in their minds.
How does a gambler grow? Not by superstition or by accident.
Whether the game is cards, dice or a wheel, the future is in the wind. He who sways the wind is the winner.
This is a new year. The past has fallen behind me.
I will lick my wounds and smile. Adversity will no longer claim me as a whimpering victim.
I am the captain of my ship. My vessel sails powerfully through treacherous waters.
I rest my hand on the hem and guide the ship. I fly like the gods of chance.
The currents are dangerous. Strong winds may interrupt my journey. But they are only temporary. The future is before me.
The turn of a card. The role of the dice. The turn of a wheel.
All this I relish with the power that is within me..
There is an ancient saying, 'He who has not gambled with life has not lived.'
I have gambled and I have lived.
I welcome the new year with open arms. I smile at the chances before me.
Every stumble means I must correct myself, pick myself up, and move forward. To stop and admit defeat would be unthinkable.
I am a gambler. I travel alone. The winds of chance guide me and the future is my own.

I wrote the article because I realize most gamblers attack the odds alone. They are the lone horseman with his back against the sky. Thank for your comment.

The article is an inspiring excercise in positive thinking and self affirmation. I imagine that poker is a game where one can develop control over the wind. The article is an inspiring excercise in positive thinking and self affirmation. I imagine that poker is a game where one can develop control over the wind. Otherwise the random winds of chance seem to me to be completely out of the individuals power to steer. But then again, factors like good judgement and intuition, not to mention being more in touch with those times when one's luck can predominate (while irrational concepts like psychic ability) should not be totally ignored and discounted. I tend to believe more in the idea that one makes one's own luck and therefore believe that a good poker player has more chance to win money gambling, because the game involves skills which are made up of rational knowledge of strategy, psychology and how the cards can statistically work to one's advantage
