Enough is enough.
I have never met Steve Wynn and have never worked for one of his casinos. And my path has never crossed some of the other celebrities and star makers who are now being accused of all sorts of misdemeanors and crimes, most of them involving sex or inappropriate touching.
By the way, what is inappropriate touching? I saw a poker room supervisor walk up behind a female dealer the other day at one of my favorite casinos and rub her shoulders. Was that inappropriate touching since he didn't ask permission? She seemed to like it.
Wynn was born in Brooklyn. It's a tough town. I am sure he learned some of his casino smarts on the streets of Brooklyn, coping with gangs, knocking elbows with the New York Police, and enjoying the delights of fraternizing with members of the opposite sex.
He built a gambling dynasty from the ground up. It wasn't easy as anyone in the casino industry will assure you. Today many of his employees earn salaries or tips in the six-figure range and these aren't even the top of the line wage earners.
But something came along called MeToo that is threatening to destroy what it took Wynn a lifetime to build. Shadows out of the past charging him with sex crimes that nobody could defend themselves against, whether the offenses are true or false.
Excuse me, but I have to ask a naughty question. Did any of these accusers benefit from their association with Wynn over the years? Did they take home extra money or sip expensive champagne or dine on lush dinners at his casinos while Wynn was committing these alleged crimes?
Come on, ladies. I'm waiting for an answer.
And if a crime was committed against you and it was forcible, why didn't you do what most ordinary citizens would have done? Why didn't you report it to the police, the sheriff's department or the FBI? Why did you wait so long to feel offended or violated by an employer who has suddenly become (in your estimation) a creep?
I guess we'll never know the answers because no members of the national news media are asking the questions.
Now I am not naive enough not to realize celebrities and power brokers like Wynn might feel they deserve privileges the general public doesn't enjoy. That has always gone with the territory.
I have a daughter and if she went to work for a guy like Wynn, I would congratulate her on her new job. But I would also warn her about the birds and the bees. That goes with the territory. My daughter would understand. I brought her up that way.
Should Wynn resign from his position as head of his casino enterprises because of these allegations?
I don't think so. Tough it out. Trump it out.
And to the general public I say, give Wynn a break.

Jade is right. I do have a daughter of my own and in my own way I am a champion of women's rights. But it takes two to tango and I don't follow the herd instinct that seems to popular today. I think for myself. I feel that some punishment was proper for Steve Wynn, but in this case I didn't feel forcing him to resign was...

I kind of suspected I would be hearing from you on this particular subject. Smiles.....

It is one thing for a woman to confront a man like Steve Wynn and tell him to stop it. But for generations sex has been a game, a big tickle for adults. And for women to step out of the past to bring down a man who has built a casino dynasty by his power and brilliance in that world is a bit much. I think Wynn now recognizes...

And for women to step out of the past to bring down a man who has built a casino dynasty by his power and brilliance in that world is a bit much. I think Wynn now recognizes he overstepped his bounds, but forcing him to resign at 75 after all his accomplishments is a bit too much to ask. Thanks for the comment.

Geno, you need to understand and accept the fact that no amount of "expensive champagne" or "lush dinners" justifies inappropriate sexual behavior. Men don't get any extra rights over women no matter how much money they spend. If a woman accepts flowers, a dinner invitation, that's it... that's what she accepts. That does...

Men don't get any extra rights over women no matter how much money they spend. If a woman accepts flowers, a dinner invitation, that's it... that's what she accepts. That does not give a man any right to expect anything else from her. I noticed that you only talk about what women should do. Women should learn to have principles, women should pin themselves with an "I".... yeah, let's brand women like cattle so we know for sure they are willing. Women know very well what they should do. But what about men? What about their responsibility? I also noticed that you have no issue with men taking advantage of women, because I assume they deserved it, but it bothers you a lot if women take advantage of men. That's never ok, we should not have double standards. Men and women need to be equal, but that will never happen as long as we play this game by men's rules. Luckily those rules are changing, and men feel threatened, but that's nothing compared to how women have felt for way too long.

Well, I agree with you, Geno: there are women who like to take advantages in this kind of situations. But the issue here is that he had a higher and more powerful position than those women...

If a woman has principles, she should learn not to compromise them out of fear of losing a job. Some women like to have their cake and eat it too. They play up to a superior in order to advance past other women in the organization and of course there are men in every organization who will take advantage of that. Every parent should do as I did with my daughter -- speak plainly about having principles in the work place. If a woman does this and does it gently with a smile, most men will honor their principles.

Yes, as Sylvanas rightly points out this Me Too Movement could be exploited by people out for financial gain through false accusations and extortion and blackmail. I meant to say that with social media being so open to everyone all kinds of different people might get involved and there are probably a percentage of not credible accusations out there as well. It can be quite tricky I suppose in that way. However, a false accusation, if proven to be just that, can also land the accuser in a lot of trouble including criminal charges being filed and possible jail time. Then blackmail is in and of itself a crime regardless or whether or not the intended victim of the blackmail scheme is actually guilty or not of the sexual transgression. Such a case occurred several years ago involving talk show host David Letterman. Letterman had numerous affairs with women on his staff, but informed the police of everything and the would be blackmailer ended up in trouble with the law.

Women don't report such incidents because: they are afraid it might cost them a job; they fear riddicule and social stigma; most are simply embarassed and can't bring themselves to talk about it. I don't think any woman would enjoy her shoulders, or any other body part, being rubbed by a stranger, or a person they do not like, but maintain a respectable business relationship with. Did it occur to you those two were friends or courting? My close friends don't need to ask me to touch my shoulder, hand, to hug me. Neither my male or female friends touch me inappropriately in a sexually suggestive ways, being instinctively aware what's wrong or right, without the need for law to tell them so. I don't think he should resign. It is his job, his company, and he has every right to keep it. Unfortunately, crying wolf is crazy these days. Constant false accusations, attention, money and fame seeking is muffling out the cries for help of those who truly suffered. Wynn is a rich man and I wouldn't be surprised if this turns out to be a good old blackmail/extortion type of case. But I also wouldn't be surprised if he turns out to be a chauvinist convinced he can get away with anything due to this status and wealth.

In the animal kingdom when the female of the series is ready to procreate, the gives off certain signals and scents so the male will know she is aroused. Why not let women do the same thing? Let them be the aggressors. It would take immense pressure off the guys and it could even make the sex game more exciting. Thanks for the comment, Vanenhox.

I can understand the explanation that victims feel shamed and/or intimidated, and cannot find the courage or emotional wherewithal to process what has happened to them, much less make a public indictment of a powerful and influential person. And thus they are unable to express anything for a long time after an incident. A social protest movement can lend courage and motivation to those who would in the absence of such a movement remain silent. I think of the sexual abuse scandal in the Catholic Church and how this explanation of the time delay is generally understood and accepted, when it involves victimized minors caught in the dilemma of a huge power mismatch in terms of accusing so called holy men of the cloth. Perhaps there is more moral ambiguity with the things the Me Too Movement is confronting, but it is to some extent comparable. But then the genie came out of the bottle so to speak and society cannot go back to the old status quo. Do most people think in the same way about the Catholic Church today? Having said all this I too question whether or not this movement can go too far and victimize people who have not actually committed especially grave offenses. Part of me also wonders if this is a new wave of puritanism in its infancy.

To solve this problem of undesired sexual activity and intimacy that seems to be bothering so many women, I even suggested to a couple of girls that they form an association. Call it The Initiators and wear a special 'I' pin. By identifying yourself in that manner, you are telling men and the world that you initiate a relationship, not them. It would work and you'd make a lot of friends. Smiles...thanks for the feedback.
