Back NetEnt Granted License to Develop Planet of the Apes Content

Fans of the Planet of the Apes franchise will be psyched to hear that NetEnt has earned the rights to go live with online casino content inspired by the films, serving as the FIRST software provider to be able to do so. More specifically, the leading software brand has inked a deal with 20th Century Fox Consumer Products, which grants it an exclusive license to develop games modeled after the franchise.

Furthermore, the LICENSE extends to the Planet of the Apes brand in its entirety, giving NetEnt free reign to develop content more than 50 years’ worth of material. In fact, the first film, inspired by the novel, La Planète des Singes, first debuted in 1968, with more recent releases including Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011) and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014).

The first of the games is expected for release fairly soon, with the second half of 2017 serving as the tentative timeframe. So far, it has been reported that it will be loaded with impressive graphics, and innovative mechanics, doing the franchise the justice it deserves.

“Planet of the Apes is one of the largest film franchises in the world never to have been applied to gaming before. With such a rich history, the brand resonates with everyone that has grown up with the films, and it will fit perfectly with NetEnt’s wide and divers player base. We are thrilled to have signed the franchise, and can’t wait to offer the game to players later in the year,” commented, Simon Hammon, Chief Product Officer for NetEnt.
