Poker used to be a big deal at my house growing up. I watched as my parents played poker with their friends on Fridays or Saturdays. Even my grandparents got in on the action. My grandma was a poker pro in her own right. I was sitting around reminiscing and decided to hit up Black Diamond Casino for a bit of Deuces Wild.
I set my wager to $5 per hand. It’s interesting because the 2’s are wild and when you have something the software automatically holds it. I had 3 2’s and a 9 and an Ace. The 2’s and the 9 were held automatically. I changed it to hold the Ace and I hit the Straight Flush for $65! Good call on my part.
Anyway, it was time to switch games so I went with Jacks or Better. Sometime between switching games and the three phone calls I received I thought I was still playing Deuces Wild and held the 2’s for several hands before I realized that I had switched. Luckily I hadn’t changed my bet from $0.25 yet.
My balance dwindled very quickly. I lost my cash in no time probably because I lost my focus. Apparently poker pros don’t run in the family!
