Swedish electronic identification service, BankID has partnered with Unibet Group, its first gambling operator, making the service available to Unibet and Maria Casino’s Swedish players. This is a huge win for both the casino group and its Swedish customers because their authentication and verification process will move significantly faster.
BankID was developed by several banks and its network includes Danske Bank, ICA Banken, Ikano Bank, Länsförsäkringar Bank, Nordea, SEB, Skandiabanken, Sparbanken Syd, Svenska Handelsbanken, Swedbank and Ålandsbanken. The service will be user-friendly, increase security and move the verification process along more quickly for players. The bank issues a BankID and guarantees the identity of the user.
“BankID is used both for identification as well as signing. According to Swedish law, and within the European Union, BankID is an advanced signature and a signature made with a BankID is legally binding”, as described by the official BankID website.
Unibet Group’s Head of Player Safety, Daniel Gambin, said, “By integrating BankID, we continue to show our commitment to innovative solutions by being the first operator in the gambling space to make use of this technology. As well as improving the customer experience, it adds a great deal of security to the account and together with other electronic verification solutions serves to improve the safety and security of our Swedish customer base.”
