Back VIGE2017 Recap

With the Vienna International Gaming Expo 2017 (VIGE) in the past, we thought you might like a recap. The three-day event, offering a primary focus on Central Europe, ended two weeks ago, with an intent to bring gambling professionals involved with the online and land-based casino industry together for the opportunity to learn and network.

Those attending the exhibition had the opportunity to enjoy on-site catering, in addition to free beers, and a number of interesting speeches from renowned gaming lawyers, relating to the online gambling market in Central European countries like, Austria, Hungary, Croatia, Germany, Slovenia, and the Czech Republic.

The first day of the three-day event featured a total of 15 exhibitors, representing a number of divisions throughout the industry. Addressed topics included regulatory subjects, with a particular focus on difficulties faced by operators and suppliers throughout the regulated markets. Day 1 speakers included Dr. Arthur Stadler, Mag. Claus Retschitzegger, Hrvoje Vincetic, Jaka Repansek, Arendts Martin, Jan Rehola, and Gabor Helembai. The day ended with drinks and snacks at a local Viennese lounge.

With lots of excitement from the previous night, Day 2 got started off a little later than intended. The second day’s topics of interest included responsible gambling and innovations of the industry. Speakers included Roman Nesshold, Dan Iliovici, Malcolm Bruce, Pieter Remmers, Nikos Roumnakis, and Zoran Puhac. Additional snippets from this second day include two ‘Innovation Talks’ panels, and a brief look into newly live lottery software, Lotto Hero.

Day 3 was dedicated to the Austrian gaming industry, particularly in relation to the country’s regulatory climate. Plans for next year are already underway, with improvements based on attendee feedback being taken into serious consideration.
