  • Hi Members,

Banning yourself from a casino is a drastic measure to take when a person feels out of control. A person can sign a "Deed of Exclusion" that ban's them from ever setting foot in a casino again.

If you manage to slip in unnoticed and win a ton of money...the casino will confiscate it from you and give u a boot at the door.

But what about on line gambling....can you exclude yourself from gambling there as well? If there is a will there is a way and that might be the answer to a gambler who has excluded themselves from land based casinos.

Do you think on line casinos should have a exclude clause too?

  • I have never actually "banned" myself, but when I had DSL, WAY back, I had my boyfriend unplug the modem and hide it so that I wouldn't reverse my withdrawl.
Everyone knows I have a problem with giving my winnings back!!! lol

    GOOD LUCK ALL!!

I guess then you would really be screwing yourself, If you ever wanted to gamble again.  Once you sign it, you cannot unsign it.  Take it from one who has.  In 2002, when I was getting out of control, I did just that, I went to all the casinos in my area, and had myself what we call a voluntary ejection.  Now I am sure it means the same thing as your Deed of Exclusion, but the ban is permanent, and comes with the penalty of arrest if you come back.  This is not a good thing when everyone that works there has gotten to know you...you think you can be invisible with the thousands of people that are there, well I have news for you..I got arrested for the first time in my life when I was 37, and stuck in another state..trying to figure out who the hell am I going to call, because I am not supposed to be gambling in the first place.  This started at my favorite casino, and did the same to the other two..I got arrested 3 times, snuck back to the third casino about 3 times after that, but it was too hard to keep ducking, and I wasn't having fun, so I just stopped going.  I would NEVER sign anything for exclusion online.  Once you do that..your name is on a database, and you can't  get back on, just like you can't come back in the casino.  IT IS NOT REVERSABLE.  Unless you are totally commited that you never want to gamble again as long as you live..I wouldn't do it.
  • DAMNNNNNN GIRL!! U COULDA CALLED ME, I WOULDA BAILED U OUT!!

  • I always knew I liked you! cheesy

  • Hi Nal,

That is a horrifying experience for you i am sure. You exclude yourself from certain casinos right? So if you move or go another casino you are safe. This does not include every casino in the country does it Nal?

  • No, I went to 3 specific ones that I used to (kinda live at) grin

You actually have to sign papers, and they have you picture, and name, signature, etc. on file.  The guards at one of the casinos new me, I was there quite often, and in the wee hours when no one is around, got talking to them, so it was hard not to get noticed when I came in, or when they make there rounds.  I usually played in the same area.  But I'm sure I could sneak back now..its been since 2002.

One of the casinos has different owners, and one of my friends that I used to play with over there said it was ok for me to come back, because it was under new owners, but I think right now I am just fine playing online, till I go to Vegas.

I'm ok playing online.  It has it's good and bad points.  I make more money, I get more rest.  But I do miss all the people, and the music, and the noise.  I think when I walk into the doors of the casino..it feels like home, and its very dangerous to me grin

  • Wow I am so sorry that that happend to you I have a pretty crappy gambling issue myself if I wasnt a broke ass I probably would be alot worse.... i didnt know you could ban yourself can you do that in Canada there are 2 casinos closer to me 25-30 min away then one thats 11/2 hr and 2 hrs away but if i can ban myself from those closer ones maybe I should!!! and if ya wanna have limited chioce of casinos come to canada haha and I know exactly how you feel when you say it feels like home ... it was home for a while the crowd the people the free coffee and pop the service people stop and talk for a while it really does feel like compfort!!

  • Most online poker rooms and casino's will let you close you account, not sure if that's equivelent to banning yourself, I gotten terrible losses on both and requested my account be permenatly closed, of course they put a lock in your account, but they were kind enough at the bottom of the comfirmation page to tell me that if I ever change my mind, just let them know and my account will be reinstated......so much for permenant!!!

thanks..ya..it sucked, but once I got over the withdrawals I was ok!
you know..I went to one of those Canadian places a few times.  Me and my girlfriend went to Vermont for a vacation away from gambling..drove all the way to the Canadian border to this little hole in the wall pathetic excuse for a Casino (bar)...what a riot.  Drove a million miles to get away from it all, then and another couple hours to pull the same crap. Too funny.
I don't know if Canada has the bans, but they probably do.
  • It is true that if you self-exclude to a reputable online casino they put you on a database.  And most other reputable casinos check that database and from that moment on you are a security risk and will be turned away.  It pretty much ends your online gambling days forever, so you better be sure.  But in some cases you just have to figure out what it is you have put on the line, how bad it has gotten, who is getting hurt, what you are sacrificing, and whether the joy of online gambling is worth risking those things or not.  For some people, they know where to stop so that the things that really matter in life are not affected.  Sadly, for others, the most basic and important things in life, like family, children, and living necessities get spun away as well.  If you are in the latter category, you are better off being banned for life, although you will miss it desperately and crave it constantly.  No free spin is gonna make up for the joy one could lose in  their relationships or their stability.  It is a super drastic measure, for sure and takes a whole hell of a lot of courage.

  • It is true..I have self excluded myself from a casino before, and told later by another casino, that my name appeared in a negative database.

  • to put it simply banning yourself from online gambling is nearly impossible... lets see what you can do:

    1) Order a new card and get someone else to scratch off the CV2 code so you cant actually use it online (prevents gambling but not knowing the CV2 basically means you have just a card you can use at a cashpoint and wont be able to buy anything online with it)

    2) Write down all casino accounts you can remember you have. Contact each and get yourself banned for life. While this is potentially a good idea, many casinos wont care. They will sell your details on, keep sending you junk email which you cant unsubscribe from and the occasional snail mail. Also theres more casinos opening all the time and with adverts on tv constantly its easy to slip back into it.

    3) Buy casino blocking software like gamblock. Again while this seems good on paper its not without its faults. 1stly you pay the licence for use on 1 computer only. You could go and use and secondary computer or your friends system and gamble. Also if your like me and know a fair bit about computers you can bypass the software (i did it ages ago)

The only real way I can see people being "banned" from online gambling is through their own willpower to quit or if banks take more responsibility and allow people to request their card to be blocked from being used on any gambling website
