    I'm not sure about the answer, but population of the city might be one of the factors.  I know that there are about dozen of casinos around San Diego, CA area where I live.  Maybe they did the survey that more gamblers live in San Diego area? lol

    I guess it's all about the size of the market, casinos may think that they won't make too much profit there.

    Permits and licenses are involved too. They may be hard to get not to mention the people in the area that may fight against building a casino there. At least these were some of the issues we saw when they wanted to build a casino just outside of Chicago.

    Hi Bingo,

    With the sad state of affairs that California is in right now i can't understand why they wouldn't give the green light on this. It would bring in tons of revenue.

    And yes there was a casino for 20 years that had been trying to be built in Chicago (finally opened up this week). Broke ground years ago to start construction only to be told to cease all work and the licenses were withdrawn.

    I think the bigger picture is nearby cities wanting to be a part of the revenue and government can't settle it and come to a resolution. One city gets a piece of the pie and right when they think they got the licenses another city screams "hey what about me".
