It has been a myth that social media marketing (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube) does not work for casinos in advertising their promotions because players do not want to expose themselves 'socially'.

Do you think this is true?

People may not want to expose themselves...but it doesn't stop them from checking out the page and reading what others have to say! So I think it may help them a little by getting their name out there.

I agree people wouldn't want to expose themselves but as Satansmuff says, no harm in checking them out and getting their casino in our faces after all, there are some impressive statistics on facebook alone.

More than 750 million active users
50% of their active users log on to Facebook in any given day
            Average user has 130 friends
People spend over 700 billion minutes per month on Facebook

That is a interesting question and have often wondered the same thing. Especially with Twitter when there is a flood of shared tweets coming through. Sometimes i think your tweet gets lost in the mix.

Similar thing with FB we get caught up on more the personal goings on then any promos!

i use twitter all the time, because that is pretty anonomous, but facebook is another story.

if there is a good enough deal, i will check it out, but immediately get rid of it when i get my chip.

what i do not like about facebook so much is not that i am getting outted, but the free advertising that the casinos are getting from me.  for one lousy chip that they give me,
that is one of those you tell two friends, and they tell two friends, and so on, and so on...
type things, and it really builds an enormous amount of advertising for them.  so unless they are doing something good for me...it goes away

twitter on the other hand is a great way to find new places, and offers.
