  • I think casinos 'fake' their postings of big winners so we come back to try and be the next one (im sure we figured that out by now ). Never any pictures or any proof really. All they ever have is a small "interview" with the winner where they always say something like, "I still cant believe it, blah blah" You would think one of these people are members of at least ONE forum and we would hear about it by now. I've only been around for couple months so maybe there is someone you know or seen. What do you think??

  • I think you have a very good point.
Surely one of these people would belong to at least one forum, and by default we may hear of it.  :-\
Online casino's would lie to us? Tell us their was a big winner when there really wasn't? Unbelieveable.  HAHA
              Great post.

  • Well, there's the pros and cons to something like this.

State lotteries have to do this (Pictures of winners) because they have to show to the general public the games (And winners) are fair and honest. This is a requirement they installed to "Safeguard" the integrity of the lottery.

Now the online casinos want to show they are just as honest, however, they are dealing with people who might prefer NOT to let others know they won a big hit.

I take myself as an example.  I'd have no problem letting people here know I won say $5-$10,000. It's a nice amount but not huge.

Now maybe I won $50,000. Here's where it gets questionable. The IRS doesn't care how I got it, how it comes to me and how I spend it, as long as THEY get their cut. They'll walk away happy. So that leaves me with about $35,000

Now we have over 12,000 members. Do you think that maybe some might PM me, asking for a "Loan"? I think possibly and then there's the hurt for refusal or the fear someone might get my personal details and make a "In-person" visit.

Or also at the beginning, maybe I don't WANT the IRS to know I won this amount.

So, hiding the cash, becomes a kind of game in a way. Plus, I'm sure the casino would LOVE to have a picture of me to show people "Here's our big winner"...No, I'm not too sure I'd want that as again, I'm trying to avoid the spotlight and people pestering me for money.

I do remember while on another gambling site (This was about 2003-04) that one of the members DID win a progressive of about $38,000 (Quarter/dime I don't recall) and people were first wondering "Will they pay?"

Well, the casino did pay, but after they got the check, they sort of "Disappeared" and one person asked why. Some did say a few things to the point "They were being bothered" by other members.

So, you see how it goes. I'm sure that some here HAVE won a nice amount, but if they choose to say so, they do kind of risk things better left alone and as such, silence is truly golden.

  • In Vegas, when you win big.. you have a choice to pay
the taxes NOW which, i think its about 30% of winnings
    please don't quote me.
Or show ID and SS# and you handle paying the taxes yourself
a form they fill out and you sign it, but it is always
reported to IRS, any amount over 1100.00. Under that
you are just paid straight cash.
I have always shown ID and SS# on my biggies, so thats why
i don't know the exact percentage, and have filed taxes
    through a tax service.
So no matter what your winning are always reported

  • Nice info guys. I definately agree with genenco about not wanting people to know if I had won it the more I think about it. Hell, only 2 people even know I gamble online smiley besides all you guys of course.

  • I always kind of wondered that also sometimes. Last week a nice older lady won $1.6 million at one of the local indian casinos. There was a news story about it and showed her pic and name.

I wouldnt allow anyone to know if I hit it big for sure.

  • I have wondered the same thing.....All the casinos I play at online always have a list of this weeks big winners........Tom P. Jenny J., Amy b.....and I always notice they only give a first name, and a last initial.....and oddly enough all the names seem to be American ones.....Sue, Tom, Joe, Jennifer....ect...ect.......I always found it to be strange considering the casinos are worldwide...that, and not many people from the U.S. are even allowed to play anymore!!! Well.....I could be wrong, maybe Adam, and Jessica are very popular names in Vietnam or Africa

  • Okay so.. everyone here would hide the fact they won?
I know i would, for all the obvious reasons genenco said..
So, if more and more say they would hide it, then possibly the
    ones posted are fakes.
Another thing.. sometimes finding out a casino had the big hit
keeps me away.. just thinking they paid out alot of money
makes me feel as though the machines are tighter.
But then again.. thats where the big hit was!
Whats the chances of it happening again?

  • One thing for sure is a person who does NOT get paid when hitting a jackpot.... gets huge coverage. Now why is the person who DOES get paid hardly get a mention?

I can understand a bit of privacy...but there has to be someone out there that has a story to share about hitting a mega jackpot online.

If ya won.......please share that experience with us little people....please!

    Lips
  • If I won big online I would let everyone on here know about it....Most of us here are looking for casinos that will payout and would love to see someone say they won big and got paid....I have no need for privacy, everyone I know in person doesn't have aclue about this place, and as for online beggers...a simple NO, will work just fine, or just plain out ignore the request.........................

Funny you should mention that. I remember (Boy this was about 1985) and this guy had won about 800K off a progressive. So, the casino asked him to "Re-enact" the winning.

However, a lady was playing the very machine he had won off of the day before.

They asked her to "Give it up" and so she did. 4 spins later, he hit the 4 7777's AGAIN and then the fight started.

Lady who was on it was claiming she'd have won it had they not "Demanded" she give it up, family was saying "Tough cookies"

In the end the casino paid the guy his $800K and the $10K

They also paid the lady $10K. My Mother and me just chuckled. The look on that guys face hitting the jackpot again was priceless. cheesy
  • Yes...the big winners are real, I believe.  They can have a big winner from time to time because for every big winner....there are lots of those who lost big time and plenty of smaller losers.  House odds always give the casino a profit, even if someone wins big.

  • All these casinos are one big scam.
