Hello all!  I just got back from Atlantic City.  Lived large on my comps and came home with a profit.  I mostly play roulette and that is where my profits come from.  I play a little slots to boost my tier score, but also have a net loss on that.

I tried Blackjack this time and actually won a little money.  I noticed there were single deck and multiple deck blackjack.  I played the single deck because I could keep track of the cards better.  But, I noticed people came to the table, noted it was single deck and then walked away stating they prefered to play multi-deck.

So...all you Blackjack players.....what is the appeal, or advantage, of multi-deck Blackjack over single deck?  Or is it simply a matter of preference?

        Hiya Doc,

I'm glad you came back a winner! When i'm playing tables in Vegas...Roulette is my fav game even though it has reputation of having the worst odds for the player!

Black Jack on the other hand...has the best overall odds for the player. Using a single deck does make it easier for the player to count the cards. The multi deck gives the house a better edge.

The difference is using the multi deck vs the single deck is the payout. A single deck pay out is generally 6:5 whereas a multi deck is 3:2. A multi deck gives you more bang for your buck. Placing a $10 bet on a single deck will give you a $12 return....a multi deck will give you a $15 return.

Therefore i think alot of players prefer the multi deck....though the odds are slightly higher for the house...your return is better off! Besides for card counters...i think for the most part they are able to count both single and multi decks.

        Welcome back Doc!
