  • At first I thought WTF but then I read further and thought maybe the guy has a point. A man goes to a casino in Pennsylvania and falls off a faulty chair while playing slots. The 56-year-old man suffered several injuries.

He's seeking $30k which was rejected by Parx Casino during arbitration. The incident happened in 2009 but will go to court in May.

They've said his injuries occurred about the entire head, neck, back, shoulders, arms, legs, torso and extremities. This seems a bit sketchy to me. What do you think? What would you be willing to wager that this was a scam?

  • How can you sustain that many injuries falling off a chair. I could see if he fell of the roof of the casino after losing his life savings but not from a chair!

    My verdict is SCAM!  thumbs_down

  • I could see if he fell of the roof of the casino after losing his life savings but not from a chair!

lmaoooooooooo! Or maybe a bridge. Hmm how many things could you fall from to sustain that many ouchies?
  • yeah, i think this guy is obviously lying and the doctor who said about his injuries must be lying too.

this will probably get thrown out of court, i think (unless of course the judge is in on it too hahahaha) what are the chances of that i wonder smiley

  • When i read about all these court cases the last many years in the US i just laugh people sues and actually win millions for stupid stuff thats common knowledge, such cases would never reach a court here none would touch them.

  • Yes it is pretty ridiculous. The latest one i heard was a guy that is suing Subway (deli type sandwich shop for those that don't know). Subway advertises "foot long" 12" sub sandwiches so this guy measures his sandwich and says it was only 11".

He got himself a lawyer and is now suing for 5 million bucks. His lawyer said he could get as much as 40 million!

  • Looks like a scam to me, you can't get all those injuries after falling from a chair. It's ridiculous.

  • I fell off the couch laughing and I'm fine.

  • Well, nothing else makes people do crazy stuff than a possibility to "earn" easy money.

  • Well its obviously a scam, but what is important he could easily get away with those $30k if he was a bit smarter. Or maybe not with $30k but lets say 15, which would still be a nice sum. And I would call that a justice, cause what else would make the owner double check and fix the damn chairs.

Also, the guy that sued Subway. If his lawyer is good, he'll be gettin some life changing money and I bet all sandwiches will match the advertisement cheesy

  • I also believe it to be a scam, or the poor guy really didn't have any luck at all. Then again, I can imagine a bunch of people starting falling from casino chairs, requesting a payout for injuries.
That would probably involve some guys in the back ally, beating the shit out of them before entering the casino, and a doctor standing by to diagnose severe injuries smiley

  • It would seem if anyone was gonna pull a scam the casino would be the hot spot. After losing more than they should and trying to figure out a way to get it back and then some i am surprised there is not more stories like this.

  • It definitely sounds like a scam.  The chair would have to be 30ft high to sustain those kind of injuries.  It's getting very much that way over here now.  People suing for tripping on the pavement.  Crazy!

  • This happened back in 2009 and it's just now going to court. I always wondered why it takes so long. This ridiculous claim should be over with by now.
